The Center provides a range of professional clinic services throughout Children’s Residential, Adult Day and Residential programs.  All clinicians are responsible for providing services directly, as well as to train staff in their respective disciplines.  All clinicians also participate as part of the interdisciplinary treatment teams to ensure personalized and collaborative support to all individuals.

These clinic services include the following:

Recreation Therapy

This department provides a variety of recreation therapies and modalities to foster skill development and socialization.  Additionally, they organize special events such as dances, barbecues, holiday celebrations and various community outings.  They host weekly recreation nights where individuals have the opportunity to socialize and participate in various arts and crafts, karaoke and sports and physical activities.  Lastly, they distribute information regarding local community events to day and residential programs.

Behavior and Crisis Intervention Services

Behavior Intervention Specialists (BIS) work under the guidance of a licensed clinical psychologist and a behavior analyst to provide psychological evaluations, functional behavior assessments and analyses, individualized behavioral support plans, functional communication training and individual/group counseling sessions.  Behavior Interventions Specialists serve as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team to foster individualized and comprehensive support for all participants.  Crisis Intervention Specialists are available to provide additional support as needed.

Speech-Language Therapy

Our licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides Functional Communication Training and addresses feeding and swallowing disorders for individuals.  Additionally, our SLP provides training to all staff on how best to support language acquisition and feeding needs.  The Speech-Language Pathologist is proficient with American Sign Language as well as non-tech, low-tech and high-tech alternative communication systems that are customized to support individual needs and abilities.  Additionally, receptive, expressive and pragmatic language skills are accomplished through formal goals or games and activities facilitated by the pathologist.
