Dear Colleagues,

I sit at my desk, Friday night, trying to absorb the full weight of what confronts us and those we serve. Of all the challenges we have once again faced for yet another week. More impressive than the enormity of these challenges, has been the heroic work you are doing and the level to which you have risen in fighting against this crisis. I sit in deep awe and humble admiration of your courage and compassion. Words cannot adequately express what the entire Center community and society at large feels for your dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to help those who would have no chance to survive without you. Truly, you are heroes. You are our first responders, and the front line for all of society in our battle to contain this virus.

I cannot tell you when this will end, nor can I promise that everyone of us and all those we serve will come through unscathed. What I can promise is that we will continue to work and support one another. We will move forward tirelessly to secure the resources you need to do your jobs as safely and comfortably as possible. I and many others are not present at your side while you perform the single most important job in these times. But please be assured that our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with you, the individuals you serve, and your loved ones. You will continue to do what you do, and we will make sure we provide the support to help you do that. This virus will run its course, and we will find solace in knowing that we stood strong, cared for those who needed us most (including our families and ourselves), and worked in solidarity to respond the only way we know – with love, compassion, and hard work. I have confidence in you, in us, and in the goodness of our nature. This will end, and it will be due to your efforts!

With deep gratitude,

.

Jay
